MicroDicom DICOM Viewer 2026.1 is a free medical imaging application designed for the primary processing, viewing, and long-term preservation of images stored in the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standard. Targeted at radiologists, clinicians, researchers, and students who need reliable access to multi-modality data without the cost or complexity of commercial PACS suites, the software opens files from any manufacturer—CT, MRI, ultrasound, X-ray, mammography, or nuclear medicine—and decodes every mainstream transfer syntax, from uncompressed and RLE to JPEG Lossy/Lossless, JPEG 2000 variants, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, encapsulated PDF, and Structured Reports. A built-in DICOMDIR parser displays the full patient list, while drag-and-drop or double-click loading accelerates everyday workflows. Beyond pure viewing, the program offers mouse-driven level-window adjustments with customizable presets, zooming, panning, image orientation overlays, calibrated measurements, and basic processing filters; anonymization, format conversion to standard JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF, TIFF stills, and export to AVI, WMV, or MP4 movie files support both teaching and archival use cases. Seven released versions to date have refined the interface to stay intuitive for non-technical users while still covering the toolset expected in clinical review stations. MicroDicom DICOM Viewer is available for free on get.nero.com, with downloads provided via trusted Windows package sources such as winget, always delivering the latest version and supporting batch installation of multiple applications.
